Our Work Vest is a new arrival for Winter '21 and was built to perform as a multi-purpose layer that can be worn out in the field all-day-every-day or simply as an insulating layer around the fire at base camp. With its 9oz. cotton canvas, its tightly woven exterior is meant to hold up to heavy abuse. the #10 work duty Talon front zipper, bomber style collar, double needle felled seams, and quilted insulation gives this the 1st place ribbon for the best warmth-to-weight ratio contender. Elevator pitch: this vest was built to put in the heavy work that no other piece is willing to do.

HOW IT FITS

The Work Vest fits like a true sized garment, but if your preferred fit is looser, size up. It can be comfortably layered over a flannel or hoodie without the loss of mobility. The drop tail hem in the back sits about mid cheek level to eliminate wind up the back. The heavy front zip makes for a tightly sealed fit while the ribbed collar sits high on the neckline.  

For sizing reference, the model wearing the Field Tan in the photo is roughly 5'11 + 160lbs and wears size Medium in this vest. However, if you have any question on what size to order, please reach out to us before placing your order.

Wash & Care

Caring for Hand-Knit Cotton:

Cotton is more forgiving than wool but still benefits from gentle handling, especially in hand-knit form where the stitch structure is more open and delicate.

  • Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, or use a machine’s delicate/hand-wash cycle in a mesh laundry bag.
  • Cotton can handle slightly warmer water than wool, but keep it under 40°C to preserve color and shape.
  • Lay flat to dry just as you would with wool. Cotton knits can stretch when hung wet.
  • A cool iron on the reverse side can refresh the fabric if needed — avoid ironing directly on textured stitches.

"Great Fit and Even Better Looking in Person This vest has quickly become one of my favorite pieces to throw on every day. The fit is excellent - comfortable without feeling oversized or bulky, and it layers really well over flannels and heavier shirts. The color was one of the biggest surprises when I got it in person. I love my new vest

"Does anybody else think it’s strange to review a garment you just received? My first impression is very favorable. The vest looks great, fits great, I wear it every day. What I think is more important is that this at least the 5th item I’ve bought from I&R. I trust them. They make high-quality goods that are meant to last, not burned through and discarded. Both the Alberta jacket and the tatham overalls I’ve had for 2-3 years and they still show little-to-no signs of wear. This is when it’s time for a proper review. 3 years in on my Tatham overalls, still love them. The knees aren’t worn through, no seams coming undone, all the buttons and clasps are as they should be."

"Love this company! ⚓️ Materials are high quality, shipping was fast, & price was awesome! Perfect amount of pockets and the ribbed collar is comfortable. I’m 5’8, 180lbs with a 44” chest and 30” waist. These run big. I normally order Size Large. But their chart put me in a Size Small. I also own other jackets from I&R. The arm holes are placed nicely, cut high an not too big. Size Small is a tailored fit for me without being tight. I may not get a heavy hoodie underneath but I own larger vests for layering. I will definitely buy more from this place!"

100% Cotton Goodness with room

"First I&R purchase. Wanted a 100% cotton vest and this didn't disappoint. Level of quality will make me look at other goods. 5'11", 160lbs, lean muscular build, the Medium felt a bit roomy (especially in the shoulders/armpits). I wish it was a little smaller for wearing without thick layers, personally. Still look forward to wearing this vest out."
